The Municipality of General Trias in cooperation with Bayanihan, the National Folk Dance Company of the Philippines brings back Fiesta Folkloriada – an international dance festival that aims to promote solidarity and goodwill among nations through music and dance.
This time performers from Singapore and South Korea came to visit the town of General Trias. The Sri Warisan Som Said Performing Arts of Singapore headed by its founder Madam Som Said Binte rendered performances at the Lyceum of the Philippines University and at the Antel Grand Village Grand Ballroom. The Singaporean dancers introduced us to the richness of their history and culture, through songs and dance. The cultural exchange activity between the Singaporeans and the Lyceum Dance Troupe was filled with much energy and fun. On the other hand, the performance of the Cho Nam Gyu Song Jong-Eun of South Korea drew oohs and aahs as the audience watched them perform their native dance, reminiscent of the Koreanovelas that we Filipinos came to love.
Not to be outdone is our very own teachers from Disctrict I and Gen. Trias Memorial Elementary School pupils, who each performed folk dances in their colorful costumes. Seeing the wonderful interaction between the guest performers and the audience makes such event worth it.
This event which was held from December 13-16, 2010 was made possible through the concerted effort of the local government of General Trias, Noveleta, Office of the Provincial Governor, Cavite Councilors’ League, Antel Grand Village, La Traviesa, PAGCOR E-games, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite, JCI and Bayanihan.
