General Trias, Cavite. The provincial government of Cavite gave General Trias P1 million as emergency shelter assistance for the victims of typhoon “Basyang”.
Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla announced that the donation will help assist General Trias in its rehabilitation efforts for the victims of calamity that hit Cavite recently.
Governor Remulla further said that the provincial government sympathizes with the victims and stands by ready to provide further rapid assistance should it be required.
According to the local MSWD, more than 1,900 houses in General Trias were damaged by the strong winds and heavy rains that occurred during the onslaught of Typhoon Basyang.
Furthermore, Remulla also donated P100,000 to the General Trias Municipal Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GTMEMPCO) in support of its programs for the employees of the local government and another P300,000 donation to the Association of Barangay Captains.
He also vowed to extend P2-M assistance in response to the Senior Citizens Federation resolution requesting the Honorable Governor to construct a Senior Citizens Building in General Trias which will serve as the focal point of needs of the senior citizens in the municipality.
In return, Mayor Jon-Jon Ferrer expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support extended by the Governor to the municipality through a plaque of appreciation.
